Organic Soap

Organic Soap

Have you ever wondered why? Why switch from your great smelling gel “soap”. Who cares if it has some questionable chemicals. Why is everyone making such a big deal about “chemicals”, aren’t these things in everything and isn’t exposure to them inevitable? This is true to an extent. We are doing great nowadays, paying attention to certain lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy organic diet, checking our food labels and drinking purified water. But for some odd reason, we forget to check the labels of our skincare products. Why are there so many harmful chemicals in our skincare? The list is huge, most often filled with things we can’t even identify. Do you know what Sodium Tallowate, sodium lauroyl isethionate, tetrasodium etidronate or sodium chloride, sulfates and synthetics are? Synthetically made soaps aren’t that complicated, they are cleansing agents and artificially made detergents.  Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS, also known as sodium laureth sulfate) is a detergent commonly found in synthetic soaps.  Companies commonly use SLS because it is inexpensive, although it is known to be harsh and cause irritation and these same companies cut corners and buy the cheapest of fragrances that are known to irritate skin. Plainly put, it’s all about greed. They’ll give you the bare minimum, charge you the most they can get for it and package it in the cheapest materials. Organic Soap is simple the cleansing agent itself is the soap.  The word ‘soap’ here actually refers to the sodium salts of fatty acids.  These salts are produced when organic oils are mixed with lye which then saponify. This produces a combination of soap and glycerin.  It is this soap that lends the organic soap its cleansing properties. Your skin produces oil which carries dead skin cells and other pollutants, and allows bacteria to grow.  Because oil is not water-soluble, your skin can accumulate these unwanted compounds.  The sodium salts help by picking up these oils and the resulting mixture is easily washed away. SONNY SOAP believes in producing a simple, natural and quality bar of soap. So the answer simply put is, these chemicals are dangerous and cheap. You deserve better and it is achievable.
